Yoga Nidra is a unique style of guided meditation / relaxation often translated as 'yogic sleep, a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation.
The practitioner lies comfortably on the floor. Guided verbal instruction is given for attention / awareness on different focal points, including parts of the body, the movement of the breath, opposite sensations / feelings, and the contents of the imagination and visualisation.
The practitioner may experience, a reducing of daily stresses, reduced heart rate, lowering of blood pressure, a deep period of resting and reconnecting with one self.
The hour of meditation restores the body, the senses, and mind to their natural function and awakens a subconscious awareness that allows you to feel no separation.
Regular yoga Nidra practice is for everyone. It is not just a way of coping with stress or a relaxation response, it provides a means of transforming and positively utilising tension as a stepping stone to greater awareness, efficiency and achievement in life.
The practice ends with a cup of herbal tea, which makes for a refreshing way to leave the practice of yoga Nidra.
